Elizabeth Grant, LMSW
Therapist (New York)
Elizabeth completed her Bachelor’s in Psychology at the University of Michigan and her Master’s of Social Work at New York University. Elizabeth specializes in treating eating disorders, with a particular interest in the intersection of eating disorders and trauma. Elizabeth also has experience treating anxiety, depression, self-harm, and assisting clients through transitional life changes. Elizabeth’s experience treating folks with C-PTSD at the IOP level taught her to always employ a trauma-informed lens to all eating disorder work and treatment approaches.
Elizabeth believes that each individual client is unique in their experience and therefore Elizabeth’s treatment approach is tailored to meet each client’s identified goals. Modalities Elizabeth uses are CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, internal family systems, and motivational interviewing. Elizabeth’s guiding principle as a therapist is to create an environment that honors each client as the master of their own experience. Through active listening, curiosity, exploration, and collaboration, Elizabeth assists clients in exploring their values, crafting goals, identifying, and challenging barriers, and crafting the life they would most like to live.
Elizabeth believes in full recovery and often utilizes her own experience recovering from an eating disorder to assist clients in finding their own personal motivation for meaningful change in their own lives.
