Alexandra (Alex) Perkinson received her M.P.S. in Art Therapy and Creativity Development from Pratt Institute in 2013. Alex has a diverse therapeutic background and has worked in various settings in the United States and abroad including outpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and residential treatment. Her areas of specialty include working with individuals with eating disorders, substance abuse issues, and trauma.
Alex’s therapeutic practice is inherently holistic and she believes that a key part of any recovery process involves finding balance. She often integrates CBT and DBT skills as well as creative approaches such as art, journaling, or metaphors into her sessions. Alex believes that our emotions and intuitions are valuable sources of data that are necessary to navigate through recovery and life in general.
